Buttons and Yo-yos

Hello, Ladies! Annelise here, and I am getting super excited for craft night next week. Granted I am also kinda nervous! That's just how I am. I really hope this doesn't seem too lame and everyone doesn't already know how to do this, but I promise that you will find so many fun and cute things to do with . . . Buttons and Yo-yos! Just take a look.

Are you so excited? We will all look like that darling gem when we are finished. Seriously, vests are so in this season. Fine, how about something more like this?

Here are the basics that you will want to have with you for making fabric covered buttons and hand stitched yo-yos:

  • Fabric, fabric, fabric! You don't need much, scraps will work well.
  • Button forms. Find them at any fabric store.
  • Or if you want the easy {but a tad more expensive} way out, just get some button packages with molds and presses.
  • Anything else you might want to jazz up your buttons and yo-yos.
  • Yikes, I really hope I'm not forgetting anything.
I have 3 different sized button molds, some buttons, several sewing needles, lots of thread, a hodge podge of fabric, and a few pair of scissors. I will also have things like bobby pins, hair clips, magnets, tacks, flower wire etc. to help ebb on the flow of creative juices.

So I don't know all of you, and a lot of you I only know through Triana. Don't be shy, though. I really am super excited to be hosting! Friday, September 19 at 8:00. Email me and I will send you my address in Springville, directions, phone number, whatever. {annelisebriggs at yahoo dot com} Can't wait, see you there!

Well I'm already off track!

So August's craft night was awesome! We definitely missed those of you who couldn't come, and I have packets for everyone who couldn't come, so let me know if you'd like your materials.

Just a few things:

a. Everyone can post on here, you all have those rights, so feel free to post ideas or questions or anything that comes to mind.
b. I forgot to write down who volunteered up the next couple of months, but I know...
c. Annelise has September 19th.
d. I'm thinking I'll either host just a general "craft what you want" night in December or we can skip all together, we'll take a vote.
e. We need hostesses for :

October 17th:
November 21st:
January 16th:
February 20th:
March 20th:

Then we'll do the next few months when we get there.

Let me know, or post on here.

Thanks ladies!

I know I'm late! I'm sorry!

Way to start this off huh? Ok so I have decided on a craft! It took great deliberation but I think we'll start off with something fairly easy and I'll supply most of the supplies.

Because I'm a Halloween nut and I always figure being early is better than not having something done at all, we're going to make something to this effect!

I will supply everything but the adhesive and any extra embellishments you'd like to add to it. Now ours won't be as fancy but it will certainly be just as cute! Here are the papers we will be using this paper so bring what extra embellishments you wish to use!

I have kits enough for a few more ladies so if you have someone who'd like to join in on the fun we'd love to have them, just let me know that way I can make sure to have enough!

We'll start at about 8pm so come ready to craft your gorgeous little hearts out! If you need directions to my house, just email me!

Welcome!

A few of us girls were talking a couple weeks ago about needing a night out of the house to be creative and to get a little "girl time". I know, first-hand, how hard it is to work on projects while a certain little monster is awake or even after they go to bed. So, I thought it would be nice to invite a group of ladies who would like to get together once a month to do a craft and learn something new!

I know everyone will be asking for details of how this is going to work and so here are some things I've thought of so far:
* Each craft night will be held on the third friday of each month.
* Everyone will sign up for a month to host and teach a craft.
* You can chose to either do a specific craft or a general "work on what you'd like" night, but it'd be nice to keep the general nights down to a minimum.
* About a week before your scheduled teaching and hosting night, post on this blog what craft you're planning on teaching, a picture (if you can) and the materials each girl needs to bring.
* After your night, post instructions on how to make the craft on the blog.

I'm going to see if I can make it so anyone in the group can post on the blog that way we can comment on the craft and ask any questions, plus discuss what crafts we'd like to do so everyone can get ideas on what they could plan on teaching.

I hope everyone is as excited about this as I am!
